How to limit responses on a Google Form

Google Forms has no native response limit. You can stop accepting responses manually, but there is no setting for "close after 30 submissions" — and no way to cap an individual choice so it disappears once it is full.

Closing after a number of responses

The manual route is Responses → Accepting responses, toggled off when you decide you have enough. It works, but somebody has to remember to do it — which is awkward if the cutoff falls during a lesson or overnight.

To automate it you need either a Workspace add-on such as Form Limiter, or an app that can set the cap for you:

1. Open the form, then Settings → Limit responses.
2. Set the maximum number.
3. The form closes itself once it is reached.

Limiting each option separately

This is the harder one, and it is what most people are actually asking for: a sign-up sheet where each time slot, shift or workshop can only be taken a fixed number of times, and disappears from the list when it fills.

Google Forms cannot do this at all. The classic solution is the Choice Eliminator add-on. The same behaviour is available from your phone:

1. Open the form, then Settings → Choice Eliminator.
2. Pick the question and set a limit per option.
3. Options are removed automatically as they reach their cap.
